[Support Center Home]
Misidentified Accounts:
If an account is registered with a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN), but Social Security Number (SSN) was selected as the Filer ID Type when the account was originally registered, the AESDirect account must be manually transitioned to an EIN Filer ID Type.
Complete the Account ID Type Correction Fax Form to change the company's Filer ID Type to EIN. Existing Account usernames and passwords will not be affected by this transition. However, all profiles and templates must be updated to show your company's correct ID Type of EIN.
Authorized Agents that file on behalf of other companies that provide SSNs as the USPPI ID, will need to obtain an EIN and provide that EIN to the Agent. Update any profiles and/or templates with the EIN information.
On December 3, 2009, all profiles and/or templates will automatically remove USPPI IDs that are labeled as SSN. All other information in the profile and/or template will remain. Filers will need to update all profiles and/or templates with their EIN or their customer's EIN.
Corrections and/or deletions will be allowed for previously filed and accepted shipments through your account with an SSN as the USPPI ID Type for five years.
USPPIs Registered in AESDirect Under a Social Security Number (SSN):
An Employer Identification Number (EIN) must be obtained to identify your company for all new shipments.
If you are a USPPI but provide your SSN to an Authorized Agent to file on your behalf, an EIN must be obtained and provided to the Authorized Agent.
Once the EIN is obtained the Automated Account Transition Form must be completed to changeover your account information. The form will be available starting October 19, 2009 within your AESDirect Account.
After you complete the Automated Account Transition Form, all profiles, templates and usernames will automatically transfer over to the new EIN Account. All profiles and/or templates must be updated to reflect your EIN.

The old SSN account will be kept open as a view/amend/delete account to allow corrections and/or deletions to previously filed and accepted shipments for up to 5 years. You need to create a new username and password for the SSN account that you will have to maintain. Corrections and/or deletions can only be made via the AESDirect web page and no new shipments will be accepted from this account. You may only make corrections or deletions to previously filed and accepted shipments.
