How to register for EDI Upload to AESDirect
[Developers Center Home]

In addition to making it easy for USPPIs and freight forwarders to enter their SEDs interactively, AESDirect also allows it's filing companies to prepare a batch of SEDs locally and to upload these to AESDirect for processing. Any AESDirect filing company wishing to take advantage of this feature must first have their in-house system (the system that is preparing the EDI Upload file) certified by AESDirect. This certification process will include a consultation by Census staff to make sure that mandatory edits are built into their software. In addition, they will be required to submit test SED data before the EDI Upload feature is added to their AESDirect production account.

To Register for EDI Upload

If you have not already registered for AESDirect, fill out the online registration form.

After completing AESDirect registration process, you should contact AESDirect at 1-877-715-4433 or by e-mail at boc-support@tradegate2000.com to let us know that you wish to use EDI Upload.

Once you have registered

  • You will be issued an account to take the AESDirect tutorial/quiz.
  • Once you have passed the quiz you will be issued with an AESDirect Test Account.
  • A Census AES client representative will consult with you to discuss and assist with mandatory edits that need to be built into your software.
  • Complete the EDI Upload certification process.
  • Your Census AES client representative will be review and confirm the result of the certification process.

The purpose of the AESDirect EDI Upload Certification Program is to certify that your in-house export documentation software is able to consistently extract a file containing the required data content and format required by this feature.

The format of the extracted file is based upon the ANSI X12-601 Version 4010 format. AESDirect X12-601 Mapping. Please be sure to follow the AESDirect mapping if there are any differences between it and the default X12 601 version 4010 mapping in your translator.

To complete the certification program the filing company must be able to extract shipment information, upload these to their AESDirect test account, and have these shipments successfully validated and accepted by AESDirect and AES.

Once submitted an assigned Census AES client representative will review the shipments for completeness, accuracy, and confirm your AESDirect Certification.
