AESPcLink Version 4.0 is Now Available

Effective September 16th, 2002 an upgraded version of AESPcLink, Version 4.0, is available to be downloaded.

To obtain this version of AESPcLink you should go to the "Tools" Menu in AESPcLink and select "Update AESPcLink Software" and follow the instructions provided.

Version 4.0 contains the following new features:

Access to Harmonized Tariff (HTS) Codes

Version 4.0 allows the user to select either HTS or Schedule B commodity codes when classifying their cargo. Previous versions only allowed the use of Schedule B codes. Users have the ability to switch between using Schedule B and HTS codes at any time using the "Commodity Code Selection" option in the "Tools" Menu. However, one shipment can contain only either Schedule B or HTS codes. On installation of Version 4.0 the commodity code type is set to Schedule B as the default selection. Users wishing to switch to HTS codes will be required to download the HTS table by using the "AES Code Tables" option in the "Tools" Menu before selecting HTS.

Ability to Receive Shipment Responses Directly from AESDirect

Version 4.0 allows AESDirect to deliver shipment responses directly back to the specific AESPcLink installation that submitted the shipments. This new capability does not replace the existing e-mail based method of providing a user with their responses and ITN numbers. Instead, it will provide an additional method of obtaining and displaying AES responses. The user has the ability to manually request a download of their outstanding responses at any time, or to have AESPcLink connect to AESDirect periodically and automatically download responses. The Activation or Disabling of the automated retrieval is done by accessing the "Automated Responses" option in the "Tools" Menu. Users should note that use of this function (Manually or Automatically) requires their desktop to be connected to the Internet. On installation Version 4.0 will disable the automated retrieval.

Party Profile Import/Export Capability

This new feature allows a user to exchange party profiles with other AESPcLink installations through the exportation and importation of text data files. This functionality can also be used to allow users to import party profiles from their own in-house systems into AESPcLink. This capability will greatly improve the user's ability to create and maintain Party Profiles.
