Routed Transaction Flag Added to AESDirect Web Application

Note: Routed transaction flag changes will become effective in AESDirect on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000.

In line with the addition of the Routed Transaction flag to the U.S. Customs AES specification, we have added a new element to AESDirect Web Application.

A Yes/No Routed Transaction Flag as been added to the Shipment Information Section of the AESDirect Web Application.

This new AES element is a required data item. Users of AESDirect will need to choose Y or N for this flag prior to submitting an SED to AESDirect

  • Setting to Y will indicate that the SED being submitted is a Routed Transaction
  • Setting to N will indicate that the SED being submitted is NOT a Routed Transaction

A Routed Export Transaction is an export transaction where the foreign principal party in interest (Consignee) authorizes a U.S. forwarding or other agent to facilitate export of items from the United States. In a routed transaction the U.S. Principal Party in Interest (USPPI) remains the entity in the United States that receives the primary benefit monetary or otherwise of the export transaction.

Any questions concerning the definition of a Routed Transaction should be addressed to Census FTD Regulations Branch on (301) 457-2238.
